Celebrating Prana—Celebrating Life!  The Hugs for Humanity group held multiple Yoga classes in the morning and a Health Fair in the afternoon. This was our first major fundraising event for our new focus; working with Free the Children to help build schools in Ecuador. Healing Sessions included: Tibetian Singing Bowls, Cranio-sacral therapy, Chinese Acupressure, Massage, Acupuncture, a Rose Clinic, Astrology, Psychic Readings  and Face Paining. The Day was a great success with much healing, profound laughter and a wonderful  sharing of hugs.  Because of this effort, we are half way to building our first school for the children in Chismaute, Ecuador.

To celebrate International Hugs Week, Hugs for Humanity was out and about sharing Hugs in the Park.  It was a beautiful day and many people were out celebrating the July 4th weekend with family and friends by picnicking and playing volleyball.  A great group of huggers with open hearts mingled amongst the people bringing greater smiles and robust laughter.  It was a perfect day that we are all grateful for.  Thanks to the great huggers that made it happen.

Hugs for Humanity helped out with Joyful Orange Productions in a street theater food drive to benefit The Gathering Place. The Gathering Place is Denver’s only daytime drop-in center for women and children who are experiencing homelessness or poverty.  Hugs were shared, faces were painted and magical theater occurred for all.  The customers of Whole Foods Market were great and donated a total of eight full shopping charts for The Gathering Place. It was a rare and outrageous time of smiles, laughter and generosity. Thanks to all!

Brookside Inn Nursing Care Facility—Castle Rock, Colorado

In April, Hugs For Humanity went back to visit Brookside Inn to share hugs with the residents.  We had such a great time last year we wanted to return.  Familiar faces, big smiles, open hearts and many hugs were there. Everyone had a fun time getting to know each other. Huggers of all ages participated bringing a feeling of wonderful surprise to the moment.  Thanks to the residents and staff of Brookside Inn, a wonderful place for people with special needs. And thanks to the huggers that participated. Everybody wins when hugs are shared.

March 2008 – Health Fair, Greenwood Village, CO

Wow! What excitement, what exuberance, what fun!!!  The Hugs for Humanity Health Fair was held at beautiful Ya Ya Yoga Studio in Greenwood Village, CO.   Working with the energy and grace of yoginis, we were able to create an environment that attracted people with big hearts, a desire to learn more about healthy lifestyles, and who have a great appreciation for beauty.

Because of this fundraising event, we were able to help a small town in Nepal complete the building of a school in Salhari Nepal, where many, many children will be able to get a good education.

“For when Enough children are educated, then and only then will their be Peace on Earth.”

September—Dance for Peace

On September 23, 2007 we joined in to support Maysha Zen’s Dance for Peace fundraiser for Tibet. It was a weekend of festivities, dancing and some MAJOR hugging.   Hearts were opened, smiles were given and laughter was all around.  Needless to say, we were all profoundly transformed by how much love is in the hearts and hugs of each human being.

Relay For Life—Sponsored by the American Cancer Society in Parker County.  This was to honor the survivors of cancer and their families.  The relay went through the darkness of night into the light of the new day.  Hugs For Humanity members were present providing hugs, along with words of honor and gratitude  for the beginning of their long relay.   People who have been effected by cancer know the strength and power of a hug as it has helped many of them through their journey.PictureD3PictureD2PictureD1PictureD5PictureD4
